The mission of the NAB is to evaluate the effectiveness of the revised ordinance regarding noise regulation and related City policies with the goal of developing recommendations regarding amendments, additions, or deletions. The NAB will also evaluate the effectiveness of enforcement of the ordinance in regards to response times, compliance rates, distribution of complaints, and ensuring equitable outcomes. We will propose long-term objectives for achieving reduced levels of sound for our business and residential communities and propose means for implementing such objectives.
The Board shall have the following duties and responsibilities with others to be determined by the City Council. Enabling Ordinance No. 4390 provides that the Board shall meet and may perform the following advisory functions: A. Evaluate the effectiveness of Chapter 10, Article IV. – Noise Regulation and related city policies with the goal of developing recommendations regarding amendments, additions, or deletions. B. Evaluate the effectiveness of enforcement of Chapter 10, Article IV. – Noise Regulation, including but not limited to response times, compliance rates, distribution of complaints, and ensuring equitable outcomes. C. Propose long-term objectives for achieving reduction of sound levels in the community, and propose means for implementing such objectives.

The Noise Advisory Board consists of seven members appointed by City Council:
Members of the commission shall be appointed for three-year terms. Notwithstanding the foregoing, all members appointed by the Asheville City Council shall serve at the pleasure of Council, and may be removed at any time with or without cause.
The Noise Advisory Board meets monthly on the second Monday of the month.
