The Design Review Committee was created to perform design review for all major works in the River District Design Review area, the Central Business District, and hotels outside of those areas.

Design Review Committee Documents (meeting materials, annual reports, annual work plans, governing documents, enabling statutes, resolutions, ordinances, etc.)
City Council appoints all nine (9) members of the Design Review Committee, with three members selected from the Downtown Commission, three members selected from the Asheville Buncombe Riverfront Commission (ABRC), and the remaining three members appointed at-large.
All members shall serve three-year terms. Downtown Commission representatives and Asheville-Buncombe Riverfront Commission Representatives on the Design Review Committee shall serve a term concurrent with their term on the respective committee. All other members shall serve three-year terms, and may serve up to two consecutive terms. Notwithstanding the foregoing, all members appointed by the Asheville City Council shall serve at the pleasure of Council, and may be removed at any time with or without cause.
The Design Review Committee holds in-person meetings at 12:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month, in the first-floor conference room of the Asheville City Building located at 70 Court Plaza, Asheville.
