Homestays and Short Term Rental Violations

A homestay is when you rent out part of your home while you are living there. To get a permit, you must meet these four rules:

  1. Location: Your home must be in a residential zone.

  2. Living there: You must live in the house or apartment full-time.

  3. Room Limit: You can only rent out one or two bedrooms.

  4. Stay Length: Guests must stay for less than 30 days at a time.

Short-Term Vacation Rentals (STVR)

If you rent out an entire house or apartment for less than a month, it is called a Short-Term Vacation Rental (STVR).

  • Note: STVRs are only allowed in the Resort Zoning District.
