Civilian Positions (Non-police)

The City of Asheville publishes job opportunities as they become available. Anyone who meets the minimum qualifications is encouraged to apply. Applications can be filled out online, or by visiting our Human Resources Department located on the 6th floor of City Hall (70 Court Plaza, Asheville, NC).
Applications are accepted for posted job opportunities only. If a position of interest is not posted, you may submit a request for posting notifications by clicking on the job interest card. If a position of interest is announced within one year of the date of the notification request, you will receive an email advising you of the job announcement.

Non-sworn positions include, but are not limited to:

- Background investigation, including a polygraph examination
- Drug screen
Safety-sensitive positions, such as telecommunicators, require both a health assessment and a psychological evaluation.
