Hop on the ART

ART (Asheville Rides Transit) provides bus service throughout the City of Asheville and to the Town of Black Mountain (see individual route schedules for exact times) from around 5:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Monday – Saturday and from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday and Holidays.

  • Interested in having your business or organization offer free transit to your employees? Check out our newly revamped Passport Program here.
  • Stay up to date on any service changes that may affect your travel plans by checking the Service Alerts page.
    • To get notices via text or email about changes, sign up for iRide email alerts, or text “NextART” followed by the bus stop ID to 41411.

Looking for real time information on your bus arrival time? You’ve got options!

Visit our real-time tracking page on the web, open GoogleMaps and click the bus stop nearest to you or dial 828-253-5691 and press 1. You can use your touch-tone telephone, mobile device (standard cell phone or smartphone), or web-enabled computer to see exactly where the bus is and when it will arrive at your stop.

Intercity bus service resumes after Tropical Storm Helene

The N.C. Department of Transportation is resuming intercity bus service in downtown Asheville nearly a year after it was suspended due to Hurricane Helene. The service will be operated by Greyhound under contract with NCDOT’s Integrated Mobility Division. Beginning Aug. 1, Greyhound will pick up and drop off passengers on Ashland Avenue outside of the downtown Asheville Rides Transit (ART) Transit Station. The new arrangement is the result of months of coordination with the NCDOT’s Integrated Mobility Division and Asheville.

ART bus routes to resume normal service July 1

More Helene recovery: All transit routes will be active again starting July 1. Some schedule changes may be necessary due to staffing, so pease make use of iRide emails notifications to get updates.
