**Update** On Monday, October 21st, ART will enter a new phase by extending the span of service on weekdays and Saturdays to approximately 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Sunday service hours will continue as normal. In this new phase the ART system will reintroduce routes S1, S2, and W5 in addition to the routes currently operating. See below for more details about first and last trips from the ART station and modifications to select routes.

ART services will continue to be free of charge during this phase until further notice.

In order to provide service between Downtown Asheville and Black Mountain, significant modifications will be made to route 170. For passengers traveling between downtown Asheville and Haw Creek, route 170 will depart the ART station at the top of the hour with the last outbound trip scheduled at 7:00 PM on weekdays and Saturdays (and 3:00 PM on Sundays and holidays). At the bottom of the hour, a second route 170 vehicle will serve stops on Tunnel Rd west of I-240 and provide service to Black Mountain via I-240 & I-40 East. This second route 170 vehicle will not serve stops on Tunnel Rd east of I-240 nor stops in Haw Creek.

The following table provides all active routes effective October 21st, detailing route modifications and the first and last trip from the ART station for weekday and Saturday service. Sunday hours will continue as normal, with the same route modifications in place.

Due to staff shortages, customer service hours of operation at the Transit Station at 49 Coxe Ave. may differ from regular hours. Until further notice, expect the following changes:

  • On Tuesdays after 5:00 PM, customer service may be unavailable.
  • On Saturdays after 5:00 PM, customer service may be unavailable.
  • On Sundays & Holidays, customer service may be unavailable.

To avoid coming to the transit station for customer service-related activities when staff is unavailable, please plan your trip outside the hours listed above and within the regularly scheduled hours of operation.
