What we do Last updated or reviewed on October 12, 2023 The City of Asheville is dedicated to enhancing citizens’ quality of life by maintaining, repairing, and replacing streets and other related infrastructure. The City works to ensure a safe road system through proper maintenance, rehabilitation, and replacement of failed segments of pavement and all other related infrastructure while upholding the highest regard for customer satisfaction. The City also strives to maintain and improve traffic conditions to strengthen citizens’ sense of community. The City’s Streets Services Division of Public Works is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and revitalization of streets, bridges, walls, and guardrail; tree trimming and mowing within the right-of-way; graffiti removal; street sweeping downtown; and snow removal from streets within the City’s jurisdiction. City of Asheville Streets Division operations crews conducted repairs to stabilize the slide and the City issued a Request for Qualifications for a design firm to design permanent repairs for the slide and to also perform a general stability analysis for the rest of the road. Sulphur Springs Road Resurfacing This street was selected to be resurfaced by the 2016 General Obligation Bond. Estimated quantities for the work were developed and the contract was advertised on May 9, 2022 with bids opening on June 9, 2022.
