The City of Asheville’s Public Works Department is managing multiple projects at nearly 200 sites around the city to recover from damage caused by Tropical Storm Helene. These projects leverage federal and state funding to support engineering and design work to repair damage and prepare Asheville for a more resilient future. Once designs have been finalized and permits obtained, federal funding will support the construction of the recommended repair or replacement plan.
- Bridges and Culverts: One recovery project invest $6.2 million to repair several damaged bridges and large culverts and the associated roads and sidewalks at 21 sites
- Landslides: Three recovery projects invest $9.5 million to recover from landslides at 89 sites
- Roads and Sidewalks: One recovery project invests $2.7 million to repair roadways and sidewalks at 36 sites.
- Stormwater: Three recovery projects invest $2.2 million to repair damaged stormwater infrastructure at 52 sites.
