APD Immersion Academy Last updated or reviewed on March 10, 2026 The Asheville Police Department (APD) is proud to host the Immersion Academy, a one-week, pre-academy “exposure” curriculum. This program is designed specifically for college-aged individuals (18–22), including Criminal Justice majors and recent high school graduates. Participants will receive a realistic, professional, and engaging look at modern law enforcement while exploring career opportunities with the APD. Schedule and Eligibility Dates: May 18 – May 22, 2026 Target Audience: Individuals ages 18 to 22. Ideal Candidates: Criminal Justice students or high school graduates interested in a law enforcement career. Program Goals The Immersion Academy bridges the gap between academic study and the workplace by providing: Realistic Exposure: Direct insight into the daily operations of modern policing. Professional Development: Mentorship from Asheville Police Department officers currently in the field. Recruitment Pathways: Information on the official hiring and academy process for a law enforcement job with the department.
