The Community Engagement Division (CED) builds strong, positive relationships across Asheville. We work closely with local businesses, schools, and neighborhoods to keep our community safe.

Led by Captain Jonathan Brown, our team includes a Lieutenant, Sergeants, School Resource Officers, and Community Resource Officers.

How We Serve Asheville

  • In Schools: Our School Resource Officers help create safe learning environments and build trust with students.

  • In Neighborhoods: Community Resource Officers act as a bridge between the police and your neighborhood to solve problems together.

  • Emotional Support: Officer Kora helps officers and residents connect by providing emotional support during community events.

  • Complex Challenges: We work on proactive solutions for challenges like homelessness, substance misuse, and mental health.
