Project Overview

The new fire station is the first of two phases for the Oakley Public Safety Complex project, which will enhance public safety in East Asheville. This first phase involves the design and construction of a replacement facility for Fire Station 9 at  711 Fairview Road–the current site of Asheville Police Department’s Oakley Resource Center. For the second phase of the project, the existing fire station at Murphy-Oakley Community Center will be renovated as the new East Asheville Police Resource Center. Essentially, the police and fire departments will switch locations, and provide both departments with more functional facilities from which they can better serve the community.
