In observance of the Labor Day Holiday, Asheville City Hall offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026.
Some City offered services or schedules may be impacted. Please see details according to the service or department.
ART Bus Services
The City of Asheville ART service routes and facilities will operate on a holiday schedule Monday, Sept. 7, which is the same as the Sunday bus schedule (8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m).
The Labor Day holiday is one of seven holidays throughout the calendar year that ART offers bus service. For route info, visit RideTheART.com.
Sanitation Services
The Sanitation office will be closed Monday, Sept.7
- There will be no trash, recycling, or brush collection on Labor Day, Sept 7.
- The collection day for ALL customers — except for those in the Central Business District — will be one day later than normal this week, so service will run Tuesday – Friday.
- The Central Business District will be serviced on their regular Wednesday schedule.
- There will be no scrap metal or appliance collection during the week of September 7.

Asheville Parks & Recreation
- Administrative offices and community center buildings are closed. Outdoor features at community centers such as playgrounds, picnic areas, and sports courts adjacent to community center buildings are open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m.
- City parks and greenways are open on a regular schedule of 6 a.m.-10 p.m. every day of the year. These areas operate on a separate schedule:
- Tennis and pickleball courts at Kenilworth, Malvern Hills, and Montford parks are open from 8 a.m.-9 p.m.
- Riverside Cemetery is open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
- The pool at the Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside Community Center is open 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. Admission is $3 per person.
- Splasheville in Pack Square Park is open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

Entertainment & Recreational Facilities
The Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville and HCCA box office will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7. The HCCA Box Office reopens for regular summer hours: Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept.8.

Water
Water Resources staff will be available for water-related emergencies 24 hours a day over the holiday. Water production plants remain staffed 24-7 as is normal operational procedure. Customers can call the customer service line at (828) 251-1122 to report water related emergencies, leaks, breaks and no water calls.
Emergency services
All public safety services, including police, fire and emergency response, will operate to normal schedule – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
