We're causing a lot of dust at Carrier Park! Phase 2 of improvements to one of Asheville's favorite parks includes tearing out the track and regrading, rebuilding, and repaving a new one. We're also reworking the drainage system to improve usage of the park after rains. So for now, the track is closed, but the interior of the park is still accessible via the pedestrian bridge. Basketball, volleyball, inline hockey and the playground are all still available during this phase of construction. Completion has been somewhat delayed because of weather, but we're in the final stages. A ribbon cutting is planned so watch our Facebook page for the date and time of the official grand reopening of the mellowdrome.
Did you know that we offer a program for youth on most days when schools are closed for inclement weather? Cost is only $5 per child, but you have to bring lunch and a drink! We'll post information on WLOS each day that schools are closed. Put your child on the list by contacting the Tempie Avery Montford Center at 828-253-3714.
