Athletics


Asheville Parks & Recreation athletic programs are designed to provide wholesome recreational opportunities for residents of the community of all skill levels and ages. Emphasis is placed on fair play and sportsmanship. A variety of team and individual sports programs, leagues and events for youth and adults, in both traditional and contemporary athletic venues are offered. These programs enhance the health and well being of the participants involved, as well as impacting the social and economic wellness of the community.

Youth Athletics

 

Youth Soccer Clinics

Registration Open till July 15!

Ready to have some summer fun with soccer?  These clinics are designed to help boys and girls ages 9 to 12 develop fundamentals, improve their ball handling and passing skills, enhance cardio, and most importantly – have fun.  Soccer cleats and shin guards are recommended but not required. Water and snacks will be available.  Five dollars per participant.  Check-in begins at 8:15 a.m. and space is limited, so register now!

WNC Fall Baseball

 

Registration Open till July 26!

The longest-running fall baseball program around! The league offers co-ed baseball for all youth ages 5 to 18.

8U: Ages 7-8, Machine Pitch
10U: Ages 9-10, Kid Pitch
12U: Ages 11-12, Kid Pitch
Junior League: Ages 13-14
Senior League (Wood Bat): Ages 15-18 (must be in High School)

Youth Flag Football

 

Registration is July 21 – August 21

A 5-week co-ed youth flag football league beginning in September at Memorial Stadium for ages 8 to 12, with two age divisions, 8-9 and 10-12.

The fee is ten dollars.

Youth Archery

 

Registration begins August 1

5:30 p.m – 6:30 p.m., Mondays on September 9, 16, 23 and 30.
A 4-week beginner archery class for boys and girls 9-12 years old.  This class will teach you the basics of archery such as range safety, proper shooting techniques and target practice in a fun safe environment.

The fee is thirty dollars.

“Art”chery Range Games

 

Registration begins August 1

5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m., September 19 and 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., September 21.
Water balloons, paint, all sorts of target surprises await. This is an open range evening for participants ages 8 and up, who have completed our basic archery class and want to practice their skills with fun targets.

The fee is five dollars.

Men’s, Co-Hospitality, and Recreational Divisions for league play August through October.

The fee is six hundred dollars for (Men and Co-Ed), four hundred for (Recreational) team entry fee plus twenty five dollars for non-Asheville Residents
