Asheville Parks & Recreation athletic programs are designed to provide wholesome recreational opportunities for residents of the community of all skill levels and ages. Emphasis is placed on fair play and sportsmanship. A variety of team and individual sports programs, leagues and events for youth and adults in both traditional and contemporary athletic venues are offered. These programs enhance the health and wellbeing of the participants involved and have a positive impact on the social and economic wellness of the community.

YOUTH ATHLETICS


Youth Archery

Registration begins August 1

September 9, 16, 23 & 30 (Mondays), 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
A 4-week beginner archery class for boys and girls 9-12 years old.  This class will teach the basics such as range safety, proper shooting techniques and target practice in a fun safe environment.  Fee:  $30

“Art”chery Range Games

Registration begins August 1

September 19, 5:30 – 7 p.m.
September 21, 10 – 11:30 a.m.
Water balloons, paint, and all sorts of target surprises await. This is an open range evening for participants ages 8 and up, who have completed our basic archery class and want to practice their skills with fun targets.  Fee:  $5

ADULT ATHLETICS


Adult Fall Volleyball

Online Registration: August 19-30

Dual-Gendered League with Upper, Middle and Lower Divisions playing September through December.  Fee:  $200/team +$25 for non-City of Asheville Residents

Fall Pickleball Tournament
Saturday, September 14
Shiloh Community Center – 121 Shiloh Road

Registration: August 22 – September 12 at any Community Center, the Recreation Office at 72 Gashes Creek Road or click here to register online.
Round Robin Tournament

Round 1:  Open Round Robin Bracket-Total scores tallied for each person at the end of each game until all 4 players have played one game with everyone on the court. Games to 11. Overall top and bottom scores are divided up into an upper and lower round robin tournament.

Round 2 to Championship:  Upper and Lower Round Robin Brackets-Same format as round 1, but only the top 1 or 2 scores from each match will advance. Championship game is round robin. Person with the highest point total wins the championship.

Fee: $5
Check-In:  9 a.m.
Tournament Begins:  10 a.m.
