What we do

The Capital Management Department (CMD) plans, budgets, designs and manages projects as well as maintains existing public facilities. CMD is made of two divisions: Capital Projects and Public Facilities Management. The Capital Projects team manages major construction projects including building renovations, parks and playgrounds, as well as transportation infrastructure. The Public Facilities Management team is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, upkeep, safety, and future planning of 60+ facilities, including the operations of select city operational and public safety facilities. By aligning projects and operations with the City’s vision and priorities, CMD ensures effective allocation of resources and maximizes the positive impact on Asheville residents.
