City of Asheville offices to close Tuesday, Nov. 11 and Veterans Day Ceremony

In observance of Veterans Day, the City of Asheville offices will be closed Tuesday, November 11, 2025. 

Veterans Day Ceremony

A Veterans Day Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 11 at 11 a.m. at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville.

The keynote speaker will be John Mason, U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran, Bronze Star and double Purple Heart recipient.

Video of the ceremony will be available on the City of Asheville YouTube channel at 3 p.m.

 

Services and Facilities  
Here is a look at any impact to services.

Transit
Asheville Rides Transit (ART) bus service will run on a normal schedule. ART service will be free of charge to all veterans. 

Sanitation
Collection of trash and recycling is on a regular schedule. The Sanitation office will be closed.

Asheville Parks & Recreation
Most parks and greenways are open on a regular schedule of 6 a.m.-10 p.m., except:

  • All areas of Azalea, French Broad River, and Recreation parks are closed

  • Carrier Park’s west side including the velodrome, ballfield, playground, and courts are closed, but the portion of French Broad River Greenway that runs through this section of the park is open; Carrier Park’s east side including the picnic shelter, parking lot, wetland areas, and greenway are open and portable toilets are located at the picnic shelter

  • The portion of French Broad River Greenway that runs through French Broad River Park is closed

  • Some areas of Richmond Hill Park are closed and marked with signs

  • All community centers and administrative offices are closed. Outdoor features such as playgrounds, picnic areas and sports courts adjacent to community center buildings are open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m.

  • Riverside Cemetery offices are closed, but the grounds are open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Some areas are inaccessible due to Helene-related damage.

Community & Regional Entertainment Facilities
The Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, in honor of Veterans Day, and will reopen for regular business hours on Wednesday. The WNC Nature Center, the Aston Park Tennis Center, and the Asheville Municipal Golf & Disc Golf Course will be open for regular operating hours. 

Emergency services
All public safety services, including police, fire and emergency response, will operate to normal schedule – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Water Resources
Staff will be available for water related emergencies 24 hours  a day over the holiday. Customers can call the customer service line at (828) 251-1122 to report water related emergencies, leaks, breaks and no water calls. Teams continue to staff our water treatment facilities.
