Housing and Community Development Committee

General Information

The Housing and Community Development Committee will review policy updates and make policy recommendations that ensure:

  • Review housing related policy updates and make recommendations relating to the creation and maintenance of housing within the City, including public housing and affordable private housing developments.
  • Review policy matters relating to the provision of services to unhoused individuals within the City and solving homelessness through the Asheville-Buncombe Continuum of Care.
  • Oversee the City’s investments in Department of Housing and Urban Development programs to implement a wide range of community development activities, including developing vibrant neighborhoods, improving and expanding affordable housing, and combating homelessness, and funding of other eligible activities to support community development.
  • Advance housing stability efforts, support temporary and permanent housing solutions for displaced residents, and help residents navigate post-disaster housing challenges by connecting them to resources and funding.

The Housing and Community Development Committee meets virtually at 10:00 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month.
