Water Department Projects Last updated or reviewed on October 15, 2026 Shiloh Water Service Line Inventory and Replacement The City of Asheville Water Resources has received a total of $3.99 million in funding to help determine the water service line material on both sides of a water meter – the utility- and customer-owned sections. The funding will allow the City to replace any water service lines that are found to be lead or galvanized iron pipe on both the utility- and customer-owned sections. NEP 7 Work will include replacing approximately 33,000 feet of existing 6″, 8″ and 12″ water lines and 485 meter services in the following areas: Barnard Ave and Sevier Street, Beacon Village, Pearson Bridge, Emma Road, Joyner Avenue, Thomson Street and Warren Wilson Road. NEP 8 Asheville Water Resources has identified several areas for neighborhood water line replacements beginning in the spring of 2026. The project will mostly replace existing problematic water lines; which have been identified as a need through a prioritization and master planning process, due to age, pipe failures and future water capacity needs.
