City of Asheville to host greenway informational open house sessions

Posted on March 1, 2016October 30, 2019 by Web Editors - CAPE

Greenways are beneficial to community members because they provide safe and fun ways for everyone to get around town. The Asheville Greenway Committee and the City of Asheville will be hosting two drop-in style informational open houses for upcoming greenway projects.

French Broad River West and Beaucatcher are the two longest pieces of the River to Ridge Greenway Network, providing “bookends” to this unique transportation network. Stewart Inc., the designing consultants for the Beaucatcher and the French Broad River West Greenways, will be available during both meetings to answer questions about these two exciting designs. Light refreshments will be served.

The schedule

French Broad River West

When: 5:30-7:30 pm March 15.

Where: Lord Auditorium, lower level of Pack Memorial Library.

Description: The French Broad River West project consists of a 1.16-mile-long greenway that runs between the West Asheville Bridge and the French Broad River Park. This final segment will complete the French Broad River West Greenway Corridor. This meeting is a review of the final design draft, and will provide information and answers to community questions.

Beaucatcher Greenway

When: 5:30-7:30 pm March 16.

Where: Lord Auditorium, lower level of Pack Memorial Library.

Description: The Beaucatcher project is a 1.25-mile-long greenway that runs from McCormick Field parking lot to Helen’s Bridge along the side of Beaucatcher Mountain. In its eighth year of planning, this greenway design is nearly finished and construction is expected to begin soon. This meeting will provide an opportunity to see the final design draft and get first-hand information from the consultants.
