Starting July 1, the City of Asheville will be employing a new Public Records Request platform. The new JustFOIA system is and available on the City of Asheville website.

The link can still be found under Government located in the blue banner on the upper right of the City’s homepage.

Once on the Government page, simply scroll down to Transparency, and click the Public Records Request tile. The link will take you to the newly active platform.

If you have questions about a past or completed request, please send them to: opengov@ashevillenc.gov

New system benefits for the users

  • Greater ease in submission and tracking of your requests
  • Expanded ability to provide request specifics
  • No account creation required

Public records and public information made or received pursuant to law or ordinance in connection with the transaction of public business by the departments of the City of Asheville are the property of the people. As outlined in the City’s public records policy, people may obtain copies of their public records and public information free or at minimal cost unless otherwise specifically provided by law.
