About

  • French Broad River Greenway is open between Amboy Riverfront Park and Hominy Creek River Park, as well as between Craven Street and French Broad River Park.
  • The section that runs through French Broad River Park is closed due to extensive damage from Tropical Storm Helene.
  • For safety and enjoyment, visitors are urged to exercise caution and be mindful of surroundings while utilizing the riverfront recreation areas impacted by Tropical Storm Helene. Please adhere to any posted signage, barriers, or instructions from park staff regarding closed areas or potential hazards. For more tips on exploring outdoor spaces post-Helene, check out this article.

French Broad River Greenway connects popular parks, businesses, and river views along a four-mile stretch of continuous smooth, hard surface. At one end is Buncombe County Parks & Recreation’s Hominy Creek River Park; the other is a public parking lot at the intersection of Craven Street and Emma Road near New Belgium Brewing Company. Sidewalks on Craven Street and Amboy Road bridges connect to Wilma Dykeman Greenway on the other side of the river.
