Consent Item B:  Approved

Resolution ratifying the execution of all necessary documents with the Housing Assistance Corporation to provide HOME funding in the amount of $940,000 for the development of the Apple Ridge affordable rental housing construction project in Henderson County; and authorize the City Manager to execute any and all documents necessary to give effect to this resolution.

“This $940,000 allocation of federal HUD HOME Investment Partnerships Program funds provides the final financing necessary to move the Apple Ridge project forward,” said Community Development Division Manager James Shelton. “By ratifying this agreement, the City is ensuring the development of 60 affordable rental units to help address the current housing shortage in the Asheville area.”

Resolution authorizing the City Manager to accept the Fiscal Year 2024 Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency; and adoption of a budget amendment  in the amount of $74,949.10 authorizing the Asheville Fire Department to expend grant funds for wildland personal protective equipment.

“We are grateful to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for awarding the Asheville Fire Department this Assistance to Firefighters Grant,” said Fire Chief Mike Cayse. “These funds will be instrumental in purchasing essential wildland personal protective equipment, significantly enhancing the safety of our firefighters and the community as we address the risks associated with wildland fires.”
