Parking Garages

The City of Asheville operates four parking garages (click here for real-time space availability); each is open for public parking 24/7, and offers hourly, daily, and monthly parking.

Hourly Parking

The hourly rates in all garages are:

  • Less than one hour: $0.00 (free if you leave within first hour, otherwise $2.00 for first hour)
  • Each additional/partial hour: $2.00
  • Daily Maximum: $15.00
  • Lost Ticket: $15.00

Hourly payment options include:

  • from your vehicle, using VISA/Mastercard/Discover/American Express credit or debit cards at payment kiosks located at the exit lanes of each of the garages, or;
  • at pedestrian kiosks, available at all garages before returning to a vehicle, using card or cash (bills only, no coins will be accepted).

Monthly Parking

The monthly rates in all garages are:

  • Biltmore Avenue Garage:
    • 24-hour permit: $130/month (24/7 access)
    • 12-hour permit: $110/month (7am-7pm access)
    • Sunset permit: $90/month (4pm to 7am M-F, 24/7 Sat/Sun):
  • Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville Garage:
    • 24-hour permit: $100/month (24/7 access)
    • 12-hour permit: $80/month (7am-7pm access)
    • Sunset permit: $65/month (4pm to 7am M-F, 24/7 Sat/Sun)
  • Rankin Avenue Garage:
  • Wall Street Garage:
    • 24-hour permit: $120/month (24/7 access)
    • 12-hour permit: $100/month (7am-7pm access)
    • Sunset permit: $85/month (4pm to 7am M-F, 24/7 Sat/Sun)

To sign up for monthly parking at your preferred garage, please:

  1. Visit our monthly parking permit portal;
  2. Select the Sign Up option;
  3. Select the permit type you would like to purchase;
  4. Provide the requested information.

If monthly parking space is available within the location you selected, you will be emailed a confirmation to finalize your purchase. If space is not available, you will be added to a waiting list.

Parking Validations 

Parking validations can be purchased from Parking Services to provide free or discounted parking at any of the four City-owned parking garages to your customers, event attendees, employees, or other individuals.  Validations must be pre-paid and do not expire, so you can purchase a quantity to have on hand to distribute as needed.  Validations can be purchased to pay for 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours, 5 hours, or 24 hours of parking.

How do they work?

When the customer wants to exit the parking garage, they will scan the entry ticket and their fee will display on the screen or kiosk.  They will then scan the validation to pay for their parking, or if the validation only covers part of their parking session (1 hour for instance), the fee would be reduced by the cost of 1 hour of parking, and the parker would pay the balance using a credit card at the exit.  
 
Validations can only be used for regular hourly parking sessions, and are not valid for pay-on-entry special event parking.

How much do they cost?

Validations are $2.00/hour + $0.25 per validation. Full day (24-hour) validations are charged at the daily max of $15.  For quantities purchased of 300 validations or more at once, there is a 15% discount.

To sign up for monthly parking at your preferred lot, please:

Special Events

An $11 or $9 pay-on-entry fee is charged during special event parking. The fee is $11 during events at the Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville & Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, and $9 for other events.

The $11 fee for Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville & Thomas Wolfe Auditorium events applies at the HCCA, Rankin Avenue, and Wall Street parking garages and reflects a $9 special event parking fee plus a $2 surcharge to support renovations at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium.

Parking Services designates special event parking when a large number of people are expected to exit a parking garage or lot at the same time. Visa or MasterCard are accepted. Our staff will collect payment from each vehicle as it enters the garage, and each vehicle will be issued a special event parking ticket. The ticket will be valid until 7:00 am the following day. If you park beyond the time limit, you will be required to make an additional payment when exiting of the regular rates of parking of $2 per hour or fraction of hour thereof.
