What is National Night Out?
National Night Out is a yearly event to help neighbors and police work together. The goal is to make our city safer by teaching people how to prevent crime and drug use, getting neighbors to look out for one another, and showing criminals that our neighborhoods are organized and standing together.
How to participate
During National Night Out, people in Asheville and across the country are asked to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors, and spend the evening outside with their neighbors and local police officers. We want everyone to be the “eyes and ears” of their neighborhood. If you see something suspicious, please say something.
Sign up your neighborhood
If you want to host an event in your neighborhood in 2026, watch for the application later this year! National Night Out typically takes place in August.
