As Helene recovery continues to unfold, strengthening our ability to withstand and bounce back from future disruptions, our community continues to reflect on the ways that we came together as neighbors. At the August 26 City Council meeting, Council members undertook consideration of several Helene Recovery agenda items as the City and community continue to move forward with recovery related projects and needs. Below is a list of the items, grouped by topic or category, actions, and impacts.
National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) recently conducted a monitoring site visit with Asheville Parks & Recreation (APR) and the findings highlight outstanding work being done by the local team behind the Go! Guiding Others youth mentoring program made possible by a grant from the national organization. The visit allowed NRPA to learn more about the program, assess management, and gather qualitative data on its community impact.
ULI's 9-member panel spent five days in Asheville, touring the city's hardest-hit areas, speaking with leaders from local business, neighborhood, and government organizations.
