The City of Asheville offices will be closed in observance of Memorial Day, May 30, a federally designated holiday that honors military personnel who have died in the performance of their military duties while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Here is a roundup of other City services affected by this holiday, as well as information about the Memorial Day observance.

ART Bus Services:

ART buses will operate on a holiday schedule. For more information about riding the bus, please download the Transit app, visit the City’s Transit Maps & Schedules webpage or stop by the ART Transit Center,  49 Coxe Avenue.

Sanitation Services:

Sanitation will be closed.  There will be no trash, recycling, or brush collection on Memorial Day, May 30. Sanitation collections will operate Tuesday through Friday instead, so service will run May 31- June 3.

The collection day for ALL customers — except for those in the Central Business District — will be one day later than normal this week. The Central Business District will be serviced on their regular Wednesday schedule.

Parks & Recreation:

All City parks will be open on a regular schedule.

All recreation and community centers will be closed on Memorial Day.

Riverside Cemetery offices will be closed, though the cemetery will be open until 8 p.m.

Splashville in Pack Square Park is currently closed as we work to repair some essential components. Supply chain issues have affected our timeline, but it’s a top priority to open this popular splash pad in the heart of the city as soon as possible. You can find information about times of operation here.

Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville:

The Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.

Following Memorial Day, the Harrah’s Cherokee Center box office will operate as normal.
