Asheville Police to hold ‘Walk with a Cop’

The Asheville Police Department will hold its first “Walk with a Cop” event at 8 a.m. June 27. This event offers a chance for citizens to get to know the officers who patrol their communities every day. It is also an opportunity for the public to ask questions and express concerns, as well as to build a positive relationship between the Asheville Police department and residents.

The 2.25 mile walk will begin at Klondyke Apartments, located at 500 Montford Ave. After coming out of Klondyke the walk will proceed right onto Montford Avenue, right onto Courtland, cross over Hill Street and end at Hillcrest Apartments. Individuals are invited to walk the entire route or meet the group and participate in just a small stretch. A shuttle will be available to take those individuals who choose to participate in the entire 2.25 walk back to Klondyke Apartments.

This family-friendly event should not be missed by those who want to learn more about their community or have an interest in law enforcement within the City of Asheville. Be sure to bring plenty of questions, concerns and comfortable walking shoes!

“Walk with a Cop,” a similar event to “Coffee with a Cop,” are both part of a national campaign with the goal of creating connections between the community and local law enforcement.
