Asheville Parks & Recreation Department is entering the design phase of the proposed improvements to the Mountainside Park and Memorial Stadium bond project.

A community meeting to gauge support for the planned improvements will be held Aug. 1 at Stephens-Lee Recreation Center, 30 George Washington Carver Ave. There will be two drop in sessions: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.  Additional meetings throughout August will be announced.

Memorial Stadium is a multi-use stadium that serves as a regional athletic and special events facility. It is at 32 Buchanan Place, up the hill from McCormick Field. Mountainside Park, 55 Hunt Hill Place, features a ballfield. The two facilities are next to each other.
