What is National Night Out?
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. The goals of this event are to:
-
Make our city safer by teaching crime and drug prevention.
-
Encourage neighbors to look out for one another.
-
Demonstrate that our neighborhoods are organized and standing together against crime.
How to Participate
During National Night Out, residents in Asheville and across the country are encouraged to:
-
Light up the night: Turn on your porch lights.
-
Secure your home: Lock your doors.
-
Engage with neighbors: Spend the evening outside with your neighbors and local police officers.
We want everyone to be the “eyes and ears” of their neighborhood. If you see something suspicious, please say something.
