Public Art
The City’s public art program supports the integration of art into public spaces to celebrate Asheville’s culture, enhance the built environment, and create meaningful community experiences.

Street Pole Banners
The City’s Pole Banner Policy enables visual enhancements on eligible light poles that promote major civic and cultural events and amplify the identity of neighborhoods and business districts.
Propose a Project
For proposed initiatives in public space including plantings, district wayfinding, lighting, street furniture or other elements not listed, please see the options below and submit your proposal.
Temporary Activation Program (short term)
This program coordinates the approval of community-led temporary (6 months or less) projects on public property including public art, beautification, wayfinding, clean-up activities, and other commercial district activation initiatives.
Public Space Enhancements Program (longer-term)
This program provides a pathway for organizations/private entities to partner with the City on enhancements to streets, sidewalks, and other public spaces. The program is intended to strengthen Asheville’s urban environment and advance community-oriented place-making. Projects may include streetscape improvements, public art, landscaping, seating, signage, and other features that contribute positively to the public realm and align with adopted City plans and policies.
