The City of Asheville announces Amy Deyton as Public Works Director

Asheville City Manager, Debra Campbell, is pleased to announce that Amy Deyton has been named as the City of Asheville’s next Public Works Director. Amy will officially begin her duties as Public Works Director immediately.

Amy is no stranger to the City, with almost ten years at the City serving in various roles including, Interim Public Works Director, Assistant Public Works Director, Interim Stormwater Division Manager, Stormwater Capital Program Manager, and Stormwater Project Manager. Amy has 23 years of experience as a licensed professional engineer and 28 years in the Public Works field.  Prior to her time at the City, she worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation and Union County. Amy has served as Interim Public Works Director since August 2024.

“On behalf of the City, I’m pleased to officially announce Amy Deyton as our new Public Works Director,” said City Manager Debra Campbell. “Amy’s steady leadership during her tenure in an interim director role coupled with her deep understanding of our community’s infrastructure needs have already made a meaningful impact. I look forward to seeing her continue to lead with excellence in this new capacity.”
