Plumbing issue quiets popular Splashville; City working on repair

Thank you for your patience as we work to repair Asheville’s popular Splasheville play fountain in front of City Hall.

City staff hopes to have it repaired sometime this week. And we will post an announcement the minute it’s back up and running!

Two weeks, Splasheville developed a plumbing issue that required its closure until a repair can be made. One of the pumps that’s part of the filtration system developed a major crack in the housing, resulting in a significant water leak.

Parts are on order, but the new parts will have to be retrofitted into the existing system, so that will require some re-plumbing.

“Going forward we are going to keep some of the specialized parts on hand to remedy these closures,” said John Gavin, Parks Planning & Development Manager.
