West Asheville commuters will have a street closure on a major thoroughfare to contend with next week. The City of Asheville has issued permits for the Metropolitan Sewerage District of Buncombe County to close Hilliard Avenue between Pearl Street and Clingman Avenue Monday through Friday, Feb. 15-19. The purpose is to repair a sewer line and installation of new manhole access.
Pearl Street runs perpendicular to the Aston Park Tennis Center. The Hilliard closure runs only between Pearl and Clingman. Drivers will be detoured from South French Broad Avenue to Patton Avenue during this closure.
