The MLK Association of Asheville and Buncombe County will observe its 35th Prayer Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 16 at the Crowne Plaza Resort Conference Center.
Asheville alumnus and George Washington University leader Rodney Johnson will be the keynote speaker at this gala celebration. Johnson is Executive Director of Parent Services, Division of Student Affairs, at George Washington University. He was a star basketball player growing up in North Carolina, and after graduating from Mars Hill he became Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at UNC Asheville and the school’s first Director of the Office of Minority Affairs. Before joining the staff at George Washington University, he served as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Boston University.
The MLK Association of Asheville and Buncombe County Prayer Breakfast is the largest, most diverse event of its kind in Asheville, each year bringing more than a thousand people of all races, faiths, and backgrounds together to recommit to Dr. King’s dream.
Tickets
Tickets to the Prayer Breakfast cost $30 adult, $15 ages 12 and under. Patron tickets reserving tables of 10 are also available.
