Want to learn where the City is on its Comprehensive Plan Update and the Haywood Street visioning process?

Find out about these projects and more during the spring edition of the Asheville City Manager’s Development Forum. Set for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 17, at the U.S. Cellular Center Banquet Hall the event, free and open to the public, will include a light lunch followed by presentations, comments from City Manager Gary Jackson and a question and answer session. Here is the agenda:

Noon     Welcome by City Manager Gary Jackson, who will introduce new staffers:

  • Jason Nortz, Director of Development Services
  • David Melton, Assistant Director of Water Resources
  • Dana Frankel, Downtown Development Specialist


12:10 p.m.           Development Services Department update by Jason Nortz


12:20 p.m.           Comprehensive Plan Update by Todd Okolichany and Stacy Merten


12:30 p.m.           Planning & Development update to include information about:

  • Draft River Arts District (RAD) Form Based Code
  • Haywood Street visioning process
  • South Slope visioning process


12:10 p.m.           Clingman-Hilliard Redevelopment RFP by Jeff Staudinger


12:45 p.m.           Closing remarks by Gary Jackson, followed by an audience question and answer session.
