Explore massive machines and specialized vehicles, and meet skilled crews who keep Asheville running, as Asheville Parks & Recreation (APR)’s Truck City AVL returns to Tanger Outlets Asheville.

“Many of us see the hard work and unmatched expertise of women and men who keep our city running – day after day and after emergencies – providing stability and services that help us live comfortably,” according to D. Tyrell McGirt, APR Director. “Truck City AVL is a hands-on way to meet these talented individuals and see massive machines essential to our everyday lives. You don’t want to pass it up!”

  • Sensory-Friendly Hour: 1-2pm features no horn honking to provide a positive experience for individuals with autism, dementia, PTSD, hyposensitivity, and other sensory considerations

Climb inside fire engines, sit at the controls of excavators, see a working street plow, and explore utility trucks that fix our city’s vital systems. With over 40 vehicles, community members should plan plenty of time to explore trucks of all shapes and sizes. 

The APR Rec ‘n’ Roll Mobile Play Zone also features a kids’ driving course, interactive games, prizes, and a popular trackless train ride.

Tanger Outlets Asheville is located at 800 Brevard Road in Asheville. Truck City AVL takes place rain or shine in the back parking lot near the food court entrance.
