The City of Asheville started the construction of another neighborhood greenway connector project the week of May 25.  Elsie’s Bridge is a bridge spanning the Town Branch Greenway that was part of “Elsie’s Alley.” It is located in the Southside neighborhood between the Glenrock Apartments and Mr Green’s Mini Mart on Depot Street. The bridge is part of a path that is used as a shortcut to get from Ralph Street to Dept Street.

This connection will be an 8-foot-wide path. Due to the slope of the hill, the path will curve like a snake from Ralph Street to the bridge. The room between the curves will be reserved for a community garden.

The construction project is funded from the Neighborhood Greenway Connectors funds from the Transportation Bond.  It will take 90 days to complete.
