City’s Adopt-A-Street program returns

The City of Asheville has relaunched the free Adopt-A-Street Program.

City-maintained roads can be adopted by individuals, households, businesses, organizations, school groups, neighborhood associations, and communities of faith. Litter sweep supplies are provided by the City of Asheville, including: trash bags, PPE (gloves and high-visibility safety vests), and pickers/grabbers. 

Participation Requirements:

  • 2 year minimum commitment
  • Adopted roadway must meet 0.5 mile minimum (one direction)
  • Participant(s) commit to sweeping adopted roadway 4 times a year (minimum) and report volunteer effort by submitting a Litter Sweep Report
  • Each participant must sign a liability release form, which includes agreeing to wear provided PPE (gloves and vests).
  • There is no minimum age requirement for this Program; however, persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
