At their Feb. 11 meeting, Asheville City Council gave Parking Services the green light to regulate and administer parking at the Asheville Regional Airport.

The move came at the request of the Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority. Under the agreement, Airport staff will write tickets, while Parking Services will administer the billing and collections. The cost to administer the program is about $3.50 per citation and the anticipated revenue per citation is $20.  Revenue will exceed administration expenses, according to the staff report by City Transportation Director Ken Putnam.

The City of Asheville provided this service several years ago and has the capacity to resume performing this function in an effort to help the Asheville Regional Airport.

Parking Services is an enterprise fund. Money collected goes back into Parking Services operations and maintenance.
