In compliance with the Stay Home, Stay Safe declaration issued by Buncombe County on March 25, effective immediately all City of Asheville parks, including dog parks, playgrounds, and outdoor courts, are closed until further notice. Failure to comply with the Buncombe County Stay Home/Stay Safe declaration is punishable as a Class 2 misdemeanor.
The reopening of parks will be considered on a daily basis as we learn more about how the COVID-19 virus spreads through our community. All programs and events scheduled in any City of Asheville park are also cancelled.
Greenways and walking trails in City parks remain open. If using trails, please practice social distancing.
All community and recreation centers, including the WNC Nature Center, remain closed and all Asheville Parks & Recreation programs are cancelled until further notice.
We understand that parks are an important part of our communities. The decision to close parks did not come lightly and we encourage everyone to enjoy outdoor activities as a way to enhance physical and emotional well-being in a safe manner. During these unprecedented times, the City of Asheville continues to work with service providers to continue to support all of our community members.
