City of Asheville offices to close for Labor Day holiday, ART buses to run on holiday schedule

In observance of the Labor Day holiday, City of Asheville offices will be closed September 6. Here is a look at how City services will be affected.

 

Sanitation collection

Due to Labor Day, trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day as follows the week of September 6:

  • Monday customers will be collected on Tuesday,
  • Tuesday customers will be collected on Wednesday
  • Wednesday customers will be collected on Thursday
  • Thursday customers will be collected on Friday

 

However, the downtown/ Central Business District will be collected as normal at 5 a.m. Wednesday.

ART bus service

ART bus service will operate on a reduced holiday schedule on Labor Day, which is the same as the Sunday schedule. For more route information or service alerts, visit RidetheART.com..

 

Goombay ART service alert

Due to the Goombay Festival 2021 event around Pack Square Park, some routes and stops will be impacted. Detours will be in place from 11 a.m., September 2 until 5 p.m. September 7. All ART bus routes will be operating on a regular schedule, with the exception of the holiday schedule on Labor Day, September 6.

 

The following stops will be missed: #403 (College Street at Court Plaza) and #939 (Patton Avenue at Biltmore Avenue).

 

Parks & Recreation

All City parks will be open on Labor Day. This includes dog parks, outdoor sport courts, boat accesses, fields, the Azalea fishing pond and the Richmond Hill disc golf course. Aston Park Tennis Center, WNC Nature Center, Asheville Municipal Golf Course and all parks will be open on a regular schedule.

All recreation and community centers will be closed Labor Day.

 

Emergency services

All public safety services, including police, fire and emergency response, will operate to normal schedule – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Water Resources staff will be available for water related emergencies 24 hours a day over the holiday weekend.  Customers can call the customer service line at 828-251-1122 to report water related emergencies, leaks, breaks and no water calls.
