National Public Works week is underway!

As part of a week dedicated to recognizing the City of Asheville Public Works Department staff  who make our community run every day, staff was invited to take part in a “Rodeo”.

No cows were harmed in the making of this Rodeo – it’s more a skills challenge.  Staff were invited to see if they could wrangle the machines the men and women of Public Works use everyday.

From bucket trucks to backhoes, people turned up to take on the challenge.  Most importantly, they showed up to celebrate and support Public Works.

The Public Works Department provides essential core services that include construction and maintenance of City streets, sidewalks, and stormwater infrastructure, as well as solid waste management, to Asheville citizens and visitors in a prompt, professional, efficient, and safe manner. The dedicated employees of the Public Works Department strive to provide these services equitably to all neighborhoods in a manner that reflects our emphasis on quality customer service, environmental stewardship, fiscal responsibility, and transparency.

From Streets to Sanitation, Fleet Management to Stormwater, our Public Works teams are  #ReadyAndResilient

Please join us all week in recognizing and thanking our team for the work that goes into Public Works!
