City of Asheville announces a change of venue and time for the April 23, 2024, City Council meeting

The regularly scheduled City Council meeting for Tuesday, April 23, 2024, will be held at Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville.  The meeting will start one hour earlier at 4:00 p.m. 

DETAILS:

When:  April 23, 2024 ( as scheduled)

Time:    4:00 p.m.

Where: Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville

              Banquet Hall

              87 Haywood St

The standard features of live-streaming of the meeting, in-person comment, interpretation upon request, presentations, and email and voicemail comments will still be available to the public.

Details outlining all the features will be posted on the City News website and City of Asheville social media, the Friday before the meeting (Friday, April 19), as is the standard meeting notification procedure. 

Free parking

Due to the venue change, free parking will be available in the Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville garage for those attending the meeting. The garage entrance is located at 68 Rankin Ave.

Parking procedure

  1. Pull a ticket from the kiosk when entering the garage. Take the garage ticket into the meeting with you.
  2. Obtain a barcode. Please ask the person at the public comment sign-in desk for a free parking barcode (sticker) upon either entering or departing the meeting. 
  3. Place the barcode sticker on the back of the parking garage ticket. (*You do not have to be participating in public comment to obtain a barcode.)
  4. Exiting the garage without charge. At the departure kiosk, first, scan the standard parking ticket barcode located on the front of the ticket. Then scan the sticker barcode you received at the Council meeting sign-in desk (the sticker you placed on the back of your ticket). The “second scan” will process at the kiosk and allow you to depart without charge.
