Movies in the Park returns Friday

The City of Asheville Parks & Recreation Department concludes its 2016 season of Movies in the Park, a free monthly movie series in Pack Square Park, on Sept. 16. Children’s craft activities begin at 6:30 p.m. and the movie begins at dusk on a giant screen on the Pack Square Park stage.

This month’s feature presentation is PG-rated Disney movie “Remember the Titans.” Based on real events, this remarkable story celebrates how a town torn apart by friction and mistrust comes together in triumphant harmony surrounding a coach staffing change for a high school football team. Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington plays the starring role.

Bring a chair or a blanket and come out for crafts, a movie in the park and an evening of fun, all for free.

Movies in the Park happens monthly May through September. Each month, children’s craft activities begin at 6:30 p.m., followed with the movie at dusk.  The final film screening of the season will be “Remember the Titans” on Sept. 16.
