Asheville residents invited to community discussion about public investment in housing

Posted on July 11, 2018March 13, 2019 by Web Editors - CAPE

Michelle Mapp is the featured speaker.

A second community discussion in the Building Our City series features affordable housing expert Michelle Mapp talking about “Housing as Infrastructure: Rethinking Public Investment in Housing.”

The discussion will revolve around how homeownership is the key to wealth creation and achieving the American Dream for individuals. So how might a community also adopt a housing investment strategy that provides both a social justice and economic return?

This community discussion happens at 6 p.m. Aug. 28 at the YMI Cultural Center, 39 S. Market St. All Building Our City events are free, and are open to all members of the community, but space is limited. For that reason, attendees are requested to RSVP through this Eventbrite link.

The City of Asheville is a co-sponsor. Other co-sponsors include the Asheville Downtown Association, Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority, Urban3, Mountain True, Aloft Asheville Downtown and The McGuire Fund.
