Asheville police, fire departments to conduct rapid deployment training at school

The Asheville Police Department, in partnership with the Asheville Fire Department and Buncombe County EMS, are participating in a rapid deployment exercise at the current Isaac Dickson Elementary School (90 Montford Avenue) today, June 28, and Wednesday, June 29, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

During this exercise officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians will be using radio channels to communicate.

Rapid deployment is an invaluable training that allows first responders to exercise procedures that train and equip them to instantly react to a potentially armed individual(s).
