In keeping with a commitment to provide greater transparency and accountability, the Asheville Police Department (APD) has created a “one-stop” public data dashboard. The dashboard takes statistics available through open data sites, and puts them into one easily accessible location. The data is formatted in a way that is easy to understand and provides a visual representation of the statistics.
The dashboard also contains a list of frequently asked questions and includes a new customer satisfaction survey created with a goal of better understanding how APD officers and employees are interacting with the public.
“The Asheville Police Department is committed to improving transparency, building relationships, and improving trust with the residents of our community,” said Chief David Zack. “The purpose of this dashboard is to provide our residents with the information needed to work collaboratively with law enforcement to develop solutions to make our community safer.”
The Asheville Police Department is the first law enforcement agency in the country to roll out this new public data dashboard through Environmental Systems Research Institute (Esri).

The public transparency dashboard is available at policedata.ashevillenc.gov.
