Don’t miss out on summer fun!  Even if traditional summer programs aren’t an option, you can still enjoy lots of great activities by going virtual.


Try Asheville Parks & Recreation’s new Virtual Summer Camp!  With plenty of activities designed specially for rising first-graders through rising ninth-graders, youth can join their friends online and have a great summer camp experience from home.  The camp is free and you can make arrangements to pick-up materials for each week’s program.  Don’t miss our Summer Camp Open House to find out more and have your questions answered. Remember When? This is a new online storytelling club for older adults.  The program meets every other Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. and gives adults a chance to socialize, even when staying home.  Each session has a theme announced in advance and sharing of photos and mementos is encouraged.  Programs will be recorded so these priceless histories are preserved.  The program is free.  Sign up at or contact Olive at for more information.


Ready to go fishing?  We’re hosting our first ever Virtual Fishing Tournament!  You have until 10 p.m. July 10  to catch the biggest Bass, Crappie, Trout, Bluegill or Catfish.  The tournament is for ages 15 and under and prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish caught locally in each category.  It’s free to sign-up, but you have to register in advance and follow all state regulations.  Register at  Contact our Outdoor Recreation staff at for more info.


If eSports is your thing, get ready!  Asheville Parks & Recreation’s eSports program launches July 20.  Different games, different days, different leagues mean a chance to compete for everyone!  Look for more details soon.
