Find more information than ever about the City of Asheville by visiting the City’s just-launched new website. Under the same domain, ashevillenc.gov, the site sports an all-new fresh and open design, clear of clutter.
It improves over the City’s former site in many ways, most notably with a search engine bar front and center to make finding any information super easy.
“Our intention is that you can use this site like Google,” said Dawa Hitch, the City’s Director of Communications and Public Engagement.
Other components of the website include four “mega-menus” at the top that lead to detailed information users can click into. The headings are “Our City,” “Live,” “Work” and “Play.”
Let’s start with Play first. Under this category you will find Parks & Recreation information, U.S. Cellular Center events and details about permitted special events.
The Our City module leads users to City departments, City Council and the City Manager’s office. Find bus routes, boards and commissions, the municipal code and zoning information here too.
Under Live, users can find information about trash and recycling pickup schedules, customer service, parks and community centers (and much more).
Go to the Work mega menu to find out about City of Asheville job opportunities, internships, bids and proposals and our citizen alert notification system, AVL Alert.
By all means scroll down from the top of the site to find other informative modules. A horizontally scrolling icon menu under the main photo leads to information about riding the bus, online services, City projects, visitor information and the City’s Open Data Portal.
Scroll down further to find an RSS feed to stories on the City’s WordPress site, Asheville City Source.
Beyond that is a module featuring the City’s social media channels and our online engagement platform, Open City Hall Asheville.
Toward the bottom you will find the City calendar, listing government meetings and permitted events.
Designed to be highly searchable and more intuitive, we hope you’ll find the new City of Asheville website helpful and engaging.
