From 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, the City of Asheville’s ART service (Asheville Redefines Transit) will detour due to road closures for the Asheville Holiday Parade. In the downtown area, riders are encouraged to catch buses at the downtown ART Station on Coxe Avenue or review the route detour to better understand which transit stops will be served.
Despite detours, ART will operate all routes.
Below is a brief description of the route changes taking place for the parade:
N – Montford – Downtown – MLK – Grove Park Inn
- Between Montford Avenue and the ART Station,
- Outbound N will use Hilliard Avenue to right on Clingman Avenue to I-240 Montford Exit, right onto Haywood Street to Montford Avenue.
- Inbound N will use Haywood Street to Clingman Avenue to Hilliard Avenue to the ART Station.
- Between MLK Drive and the ART Station, N will use S. Charlotte, to McCormick Place, to Biltmore Avenue, to Short Coxe Avenue, to Coxe Avenue. No changes for the remainder of route.
N1 – Merrimon – UNCA – Lakeshore
- Between the ART Station and Merrimon Avenue, N1 and N2 will use Hilliard Avenue to Clingman Avenue to Haywood Street to 240 East ramp to Merrimon Avenue. No changes for the remainder of route.
N2 – Merrimon Avenue – UNCA – Beaverdam Road
- Between ART Station to Merrimon Avenue, N2 & N1 will use Hilliard Avenue to Clingman Avenue to Haywood Street to 240 East ramp to Merrimon Avenue. No changes for the remainder of route.
N3 – Chamber – Hillcrest
- Outbound – N3 will use Hilliard Avenue to Clingman Avenue to 19/23 North and exit on Hill St. to service Hillcrest Apartments.
- Inbound – N3 will use Hill Street to Montford Avenue to Haywood Street to Clingman Avenue to Hilliard Avenue to access the Transit Station.
S1 – Biltmore Avenue – Shiloh
- Between ART Station to Biltmore Avenue, S1, S2 and S5 will use Coxe Avenue to Short Coxe Avenue to Biltmore Avenue. No changes for the remainder of route.
S2 – Biltmore Avenue – Kenilworth – Social Security Office
- Between ART Station to Biltmore Avenue, S2, S5 and S1 will use Coxe Avenue to Short Coxe Avenue to Biltmore Ave. No changes for the remainder of route.
S3 – Normal route, no detour necessary.
S4 – Normal route, no detour necessary.
S2 – Biltmore Avenue – Fairview Road – Swannanoa River Road – Wood Avenue
Between ART Station to Biltmore Ave, S5, S2 and S1 will use Coxe Avenue, to Short Coxe Avenue to Biltmore Avenue. No changes for the remainder of route.
E1 – Tunnel – S. Tunnel – Swannanoa River Road – VA
- Between ART Station and College St, E1, E2 and 170 will use Coxe Avenue to Short Coxe Avenue to Biltmore Avenue to McCormick Place to S. Charlotte Street to MLK Drive to College Street. No changes for the remainder of route.
E2 – Tunnel Road- Haw Creek
- Between ART Station and College St, E2, E1 and 170 will use Coxe Avenue to Short Coxe Avenue to Biltmore Avenue to McCormick Place to S. Charlotte Street to MLK Drive to College Street. No changes for the remainder of route.
170 – Warren Wilson, Swannanoa, Black Mountain
- Between ART Station and College Street, 170, E2 and E1 will use Coxe Avenue to Short Coxe Avenue to Biltmore Avenue to McCormick Place to S. Charlotte Street to MLK Dr. to College Street. No changes for the remainder of route.
W1 – Normal route, no detour necessary.
W2 – Normal route, no detour necessary.
W3 – Patton Avenue – Goodwill
- Between ART Station to Westgate, W3, W4 and W5 will use Hilliard Avenue to Clingman Avenue to I-240. No changes for the remainder of route.
W4 – Patton Avenue – New Leicester Hwy
- Between ART Station to Haywood St., W4, W3 and W5 will use Hilliard Avenue to Clingman Avenue to I-240. No changes for the remainder of route.
W5 – Patton Avenue – Emma
